What weapons were used in the Crusades?

The Crusades took place during the Middle Ages. During this time there were many weapons that could be used in a fight. The weapons used in the Crusades could be placed into three main groups: siege weapons, the weapons used by knights and soldiers and the weapons used by peasants . The siege weapons included Medieval Catapults,Trebuchet, Ballista, Battering Ram, Mangonel, Siege Tower, Greek Fire and Pike. The weapons used by the knights and soldiers were the Lance, Swords and Daggers while riding on their warhorses   The weapons used by peasants were Polearm, Battle Axe, Mace, Billhook, Caltrop, Flail, Halberd, Longbow, Bow and Arrow, Crossbow, Pike, Poleaxe, Quarterstaff, Spear and the War hammer. For the Children's Crusade there was really not any weaponry of significance. Overall the most important weapon during the Crusades was the sword. They were all unique to the owner and some even had jewels and gemstones. Most of the people fighting in the Crusades also had a backup to their sword. They used a dagger in case their sword was broken.
